"Morning Glory John Deere"

“Morning Glory John Deere” , this is a Small painting, 6″x 8″, oil on canvas panel. $750.00 USD

Today I went for a late afternoon walk on a newly built and mowed trail. I found Simon from Morning Glory Farm just getting out of his tractor at the end of a long day of farm work. I walked with him to the other end of the trail where he had a ride waiting. On my return walk this is what I saw. An unplanned, unexpected painting, just the way I like them!…

"Spring Waters"

“Spring Waters” , this is a Small painting, 6″x 8″, oil on canvas panel. This painting has SOLD.

There is something about the spring waters which give them a real blue green glow. In summer and fall they are a darker green and blue. In this painting the spring color is more noticable due to the relationship with the white of the buildings on either side of the water…

"Evening Bud Tomorrow Bloom"

“Evening Bud Tomorrow Bloom” , this is a Small painting, 6″x 8″, oil on canvas panel. $750.00 USD

While I was away, the cactus had just started to bloom. It makes them really stand out in the green sea of grasses flourishing after all the rains…

"Rain Dusk Dallas"

“Rain Dusk Dallas” , this is a Small painting, 6″x 8″, oil on canvas panel. $750.00 USD

The rain left off for part of the day and I drove over to White Rock Lake, a thousand plus acres of water on the East side of downtown Dallas. Some evenings the sky will turn to magic. If I am there then luck is with me. Tonight wasn’t bad, but sometimes the setting sun glints off the distant skyscrapers and…, well it didn’t this time. There will be other unique chances here by the lake again…

"Rose By The Pool"

“Rose By The Pool” , this is a Small painting, 6″x 8″, oil on canvas panel. This painting has SOLD.

The rainy weather has kept me from the landscape for a bit. Today I found this rose near some shelter, just in case it rained again…

"Live Oak Grove"

“Live Oak Grove” , this is a Small painting, 6″x 8″, oil on canvas panel. $750.00 USD

I found this grove a few weeks ago on one of my scouting trips coming back home from Weatherford the long way. It was such a splendid grove that I had stopped and taken multiple photos of it to burn the image into my consciousness. Of course, that only works when I see the photos again! Which I did this morning and waited until near evening to catch the light right. The cattle were a bonus when I got there to paint…

"Evening Birdbath"

“Evening Birdbath” , this is a Small painting, 6″x 8″, oil on canvas panel. $750.00 USD

I mowed the lawn today. Or I should say the weeds. They had grown twice as high as the grass from the rains we just had. I always like to walk around and admire the perfection of the yard after just cutting all the raggedy growth. I filled the two birdbaths and this one caught my eye as well as that section of sky on its mirror surface…

"Wild Flower Trail"

“Wild Flower Trail” , this is a Small painting, 6″x 8″, oil on canvas panel. This painting has SOLD.

After driving into Dallas and back over the weekend, I experienced the full scope of the Texas wild flower season along the roadsides. Upon returning, all I wanted to do was paint wild flowers. I found this trail up above the rock quarry lake, or tank, as Texans say. The sun was close to down and it just was what I had wanted to paint…

"Blue Bonnet Drive"

“Blue Bonnet Drive” , this is a Small painting, 6″x 8″, oil on canvas panel. This painting has SOLD.

The Blue Bonnets are finally out in force in my own back pastures. It’s fun to drive around there (watch the mesquite thorns under the tires!) and see all the new locations of blankets of wild flowers spread out all over…

"Spring Eve"

“Spring Eve” , this is a Small painting, 6″x 8″, oil on canvas panel. $750.00 USD

I have been waiting for this Mesquite tree to finish leafing out. I thought it was ready for today’s painting. By the time I was half way through, I had an audience of 7 calves! They were having fun licking the shiny headlights on my car. I finally had to shoo them away when one tried to bite the front grille work. Luckily the mom’s stayed a respectable distance away, and none of them was interested in the Mesquite I was painting…
